AMI1O/2O/3M/3O Instrumental Music - Band
Students will focus their work on the various aspects of musical performance through the study of a woodwind, brass or percussion instrument in a band setting.

AMS1O/2O/3M/3O Instrumental Music - Strings
Students will focus their work on the various aspects of musical performance through the study of a string instrument in an orchestra setting.

AMV1O/2O/3M/3O Music -Vocal/Choral
This focus course is designed for the student wishing to learn about singing and participate in a choir setting.

Grade 12


AMI4A Instrumental Music-Band
Students develop a deeper understanding of music by acquiring and developing skills on a brass, woodwind or percussion instrument. A wide variety of repertoire is studied. This course also includes a historical component combined with listening and creative activities.

AMS4A Instrumental Music-Strings
Students develop a deeper understanding of music by acquiring and developing skills on string instrument. A wide variety of repertoire is studied along with etudes and technical studies for the development of playing skills. The course also includes a historical component combined with listening and creative activities.

AMV4A Vocal Music
Students acquire a deeper understanding of music by learning to sing and developing their singing technique. Technical focus is on the development of tone, ear-training and reading skills. Artistic development is encouraged through the performance of various styles of music. The course also includes a historical component combined with listening and creative activities.

AMR4A Repertoire
The focus of this class is the study and performance of band or orchestra repertoire. Students study and perform large group repertoire leading to an understanding of the concepts of music. The course includes listening, performing and creative activities.

OAC


AMUOA Music
This course focuses on advanced work in the study of musical forms. Through listening, performing, and creative activities, students achieve increased understanding of some of the more complex concepts of structure and style. The works selected for intensive study determines the specific skills and techniques developed. At least eight works are selected for formal study. including at least one from each of the following categories: Canadian music, renaissance and baroque music, classical music, romantic music, and twentieth century music outside Canada. The creation and development of independent study projects are important components of the course.
